Zoology for Civil Services Exam

Zoology is a natural choice for UPSC aspirants with a life science background. It is considered a scoring subject due to its factual nature. Questions are generally straightforward and revolve around basic concepts, making it easier to score well if you have a good grasp of the subject matter. Figures and diagrams can be used to answer the questions. Zoology overlaps with various other disciplines such as ecology, environmental science etc. This interdisciplinary nature can provide a broader understanding of the natural world, which can be advantageous in the exam, especially in the general studies papers. Zoology is comparatively less competitive as the students usually from a science background choose it as an optional subject in UPSC.
The syllabus of zoology subject is divided in two parts – paper I and II. The weightage of both the papers in the exam is 250 marks.
Paavanya Institute’s Zoology Classes for UPSC covers all the syllabus in detail. Each topic starts with proper concepts followed by deep discussion. Regular tests are held and handwritten notes/diagrams are provided. Mock tests and test series are the salient features.

CSE Zoology Paper 1: It will cover ecology, chordates and non-chordates, ethology, biostatistics, instrumentation and economic zoology.
